Global Mapper - Experience the power of professional mapping
In today's world, the classical map is not enough for most travelers. That's because it takes a lot of time and effort to find a certain place on the map. Not to mention planning trips. A much better idea would be to use a specialized mapping software that can help you quickly find any place in the world and also plan a trip more efficiently. One such software is Global Mapper. As the name clearly states, the program is able to find any place on earth and it also allows planning ahead a trip in the most efficient way possible.
The program is compatible with most versions of the Windows operating system, ranging from XP to Windows 7. It requires only a few clicks to install and also completes the installation process in the shortest time possible. It takes up about 20 MB of hard disk space and it's gentle with the system requirements.
Regarding the interface of Global Mapper, it features a complex menu system that may require some time for a user to get used to it. When running the program for the first time, a welcome window is displayed, allowing the user to open a previously saved map file or to create a new one. The program supports all the well known map providers, like MapQuest. After having chosen the desired map provider, the user can start editing the map. As such, he can mark some important landmarks, he can create a journey and so on.
Global Mapper is compatible with most computer GPS receivers, allowing them to show the user's exact position on the map. Besides that, the program can produce special files that can be used together with Garmin GPS devices. Furthermore, it allows measuring the distance between two certain points on the map. A coordinated converter is also available, supporting a wide range of coordinates types.
